Neutrality in Transition
Part 1 of the event trilogy "Zeitenwende in Europe"

On Monday, 27 March 2023, a public panel discussion on "Neutrality in Transition" took place at the Diplomatic Academy as the first part of the event trilogy "Zeitenwende in Europe – Austria's Security Policy", which was organised by the Diplomatic Academy of Vienna (DA) in cooperation with the Austrian Institute for European and Security Policy (AIES) and the Center for Strategic Analysis (CAS).
Salome Meyer (Ambassador of the Swiss Confederation to Austria) spoke about Switzerland's neutral continuity, Rinna Kullaa (Professor of Global History, University of Tampere, Finland) about the radical Finnish change on the neutrality issue, Franz Cede (Austrian Ambassador a. D. and Senior Advisor to the AIES) on the myths and realities of the Austrian neutrality and Jozef Bátora (Professor of International Relations, Webster Vienna Private University; Political Science, Comenius University, Bratislava) on the new dangers in security policy. Ambassador Emil Brix welcomed the audience and moderated the event.
The second part of the event series "The Future of the European Security Architecture" will take place on 8 May 2023, the third part "Options for Austrian Security Policy" on 31 May 2023.
