The Role of Foreign Actors in the Armenia-Azerbaijan Conflict
Russia, Turkey, China, and India
AIES Focus 2024/3

27.02.2024 / EU-Nachbarschaft
This AIES Focus discusses the involvement of foreign actors in the Armenia-Azerbaijan. Russia and Turkey are actively engaged, while China and India play more implicit roles. The focus is on divergent and convergent perspectives among these actors, with attention to the Zangezur corridor and its significance. Russia's declining but still influential role, Turkey's active support for Azerbaijan, China's peace-making stance, and India's cautious engagement are analysed. Despite differing approaches, all recognize Nagorno-Karabakh as part of Azerbaijan, with implications for the region's geopolitics.
