Taiwan Election

Analysing Influence Campaigns and Future Cross-Strait Relations

Jan 24, 2024 / Vienna / Indo-Pacific

On January 24, 2024, the Austria Institute for European and Security Policy (AIES) hosted an expert talk at its premises on the political implications of the parliamentary elections in Taiwan on January 13. The institute had the privilege of welcoming renowned journalist William Yang to Vienna. In his lecture to selected guests, Yang focused on the political and leadership changes that lie ahead for the Taiwanese government. Yang also addressed the hybrid threat of disinformation, which attempts to influence the political discourse in Taiwan and undermine democratic structures. The lecture was followed by a discussion with the audience. Michael Zinkanell, Director of the AIES, moderated the event.
