The event commenced with welcome remarks from Dr. Emil Brix, Director of the DA, and Ambassador Sang-wook Ham of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea to Austria.

The sessions featured a distinguished lineup of speakers, including Ms. Yoon Jeong Baek (Deputy Director General for International Security and Korean Peninsula Policy), Dr. Michael Reiterer (Former EU Ambassador to the Republic of Korea), Dr. Ashley Hess (former DPRK Panel of Expert of the UN Security Council), Dr. Bora Park (Senior Researcher, Institute for National Security Strategy), Dr. Eun-Young Kim (Professor, Catholic Kwandong University) and Mr. Colonel Daniel Hikes-Wurm (Directorate General for Defence Policy, Austrian Ministry of Defence).

During the discussion, the speakers provided a comprehensive analysis of North Korea’s growing cyber capabilities and their global impact, emphasizing the necessity of international cooperation, such as the EU-South Korea partnership, and the development of robust multilateral frameworks to counter evolving cyber threats.
