Austria between neutrality and solidarity: On 25 June 2025, AIES Fellow Christoph Schwarz presented the new AIES study ‘Between principle and pressure - European perspectives on Austrian neutrality’, in which over 100 foreign and security policy experts from 24 different European countries were asked about their views on Austria's neutrality and role in the European security architecture.
This was followed by a discussion between former Austrian Foreign Minister Ursula Plassnik and political scientist Gustav Gressel, together with the author of the study Christoph Schwarz, on the tensions between neutrality and solidarity in Europe.
The event was moderated by AIES Director Michael Zinkanell.
