AIES Event with Dr. Mohamed ElBaradei

On the 16th of May 2022, AIES President Werner Fasslabend discussed global security and the nuclear weapons issue with guest speaker Mohamed ElBaradei, Director General Emeritus of the International Atomic Energy Agency. Throughout the discussion, ElBaradei pointed out the challenges of denuclearization and global governance today in consideration of the new threats posed by Russia and other disruptive players challenging international security. After analyzing the current challenges, ElBaradei offered his views on how to reach a denuclearized global security system.
