Hon. Tim Watts MP on the Indo-Pacific and European and Australian Foreign Policy

The Austria Institute for European and Security Policy (AIES), together with the Embassy of Australia in Austria and the School of International Studies Vienna (DA), had the honor to host the event Australia's Assistant Foreign Minister on the Indo-Pacific, Europe and Australia's Foreign Policy - Public lecture by The Hon Tim Watts MP on 21 May 2024. 

Australia's Assistant Foreign Minister, Tim Watts MP, spoke about Australia's foreign policy and the role of the EU in the Indo-Pacific region. He emphasized the need for respect for the rule of law, stability, engagement and the ability of all international states to act. He also addressed the important role that the EU and Austria have to play as mediators in bilateral and minilateral forums. 

The opening speech was given by Emil Brix (Director of the Diplomatic Academy of Vienna), the event was moderated by Bernhard Zimburg (former Austrian Ambassador to Australia, Japan, Indonesia and Algeria). The AIES was represented by Associate Prof. Dr. Alfred Gerstl.
