AIES Director Michael Zinkanell shared his expertise at the 10th European Congress of Local Governments in Mikołajki, Poland, where he contributed to a high-level panel discussion on the feasibility of a Belt of Peace and Stability stretching from Scandinavia to the Caucasus. As Europe faces growing geopolitical uncertainties, he emphasised that stability across the continent is not just a question of feasibility but a strategic necessity. A secure Europe is essential for safeguarding economic prosperity, democratic values, and long-term resilience in the face of emerging challenges.
The Congress, held under the theme Global Challenges – Local Solutions, provided a dynamic platform for dialogue among policymakers, experts, and stakeholders. More than 2,500 participants from local and central governments, NGOs, the private sector, and academia came together to exchange ideas, share best practices, and explore solutions to pressing regional and international issues.
