On October 18, 2022, Martin Sajdik, AIES Senior Advisor and Board Member, discussed the Sweden and Finland application for NATO, as well as the topic of neutrality, with invited representatives of these countries. Speakers were Pirkko Hämäläinen, Finnish Ambassador to Austria, Helena Zimmerdahl Torgerson, Deputy Head of Mission of the Swedish Embassy, and Hans Cede, former Austrian Ambassador to Russia and Belgium. The discussion focused on the reasons for Sweden's and Finland's NATO membership applications as well as the EU's CSDP.
