May 15, 2024 / Vienna / Indo-Pacific

On 15 May 2024, the Austria Institute for European and Security Policy organised the China Hub Austria for the second time. Plamen Tonchev, Head of the Asia Department at the Institute of International Economic Relations (IIER) in Athens, founding member of the European Think-tank Network on China (ETNC) and member of the EU section of the Committee of the Council for Security Cooperation in the Asia Pacific (EU CSCAP), was a guest at the event.

In two discussion rounds with members of the China Hub and additional invited guests, the topic of de-risking was discussed in the context of EU-China relations. The specific challenges for cooperation in research and science were also discussed.

The aim of the China Hub Austria is the flexible exchange on China-related topics and the pooling of this expertise in Austria, whereby experts from the Austrian research and think tank sector were invited to the first meeting.
