From 11-13 April 2025, AIES President Werner Fasslabend took part in the Antalya Diplomacy Forum 2025 in Antalya, Turkey.
The fourth edition of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum (ADF2025) was held under this year's motto ‘Reclaiming Diplomacy in a Fragmented World’ and was dedicated to the question of how diplomacy can be re-established as a powerful instrument of stabilisation in an increasingly fragmented world order. The event was organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey. The forum was organised under the patronage of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
Geopolitical tensions are increasing worldwide, social and economic inequalities are worsening, the number of civilian victims of violence is rising, social discourse is becoming more intolerant, technological upheavals are causing uncertainty and the climate crisis is having far-reaching consequences. All these developments have considerably shaken confidence in international institutions and in the ability of the global system to find viable solutions.
In this situation, the Antalya Diplomacy Forum sees itself as a space for reflection and exchange. The aim is to critically examine the structural challenges of the multilateral system and to provide impetus for sustainable, effective diplomacy in a complex international environment.
During the forum, President Dr Werner Fasslabend also spoke with the President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto about great power relations in the Indo-Pacific.
