Expert Workshop at KAS with Research Fellow Livia Benko
11.10.23 / Vienna
Opportunities and Challenge for a European policy in the Southern Caucasus and Central Asia
On October 11, 2023, Livia Benko, Research Fellow at the Austrian Institute for European and Security Policy (AIES), took part in an expert workshop debate entitled “The Future of the EU’s Relations to the Eastern Partnership” at the Konrad-Adenauer-Foundation Austria (KAS) – Multilateral Dialogue Vienna. The debate focused on adapting the Eastern Partner to a new Eastern Neighbourhood and on the future of the EU policy towards the Southern Caucasus and Central Asia.
Bringing together decision-makers, experts, and business representatives, the event was an opportunity to address the issues of the changing context following the war in Eastern Europe. The attendees exchanged perspectives related to the political partnership, economic cooperation and the structure of the European Neighbourhood Policy over the long term. Workshop participants were eventually invited to formulate policy recommendations to develop a comprehensive EU policy in the Southern Caucasus and Central Asia.
