YATA Austria
The Young Atlantic Treaty Association (YATA) Austria brings together students, young professionals, researchers, public servants, and private-sector experts who care about security, foreign policy, and international affairs. We are an open, non-partisan platform rooted in Vienna's rich institutional landscape — and connected to a wider international community.
Institutional Context
YATA Austria operates within a dual institutional framework. The AIES serves as the Austrian national chapter in the Atlantic Treaty Association (ATA) network, the international federation of national associations supporting Euro-Atlantic values since 1954. As the national member, AIES oversees the Austrian chapter of YATA, which is the official youth wing of ATA founded in 1996. Through this connection, YATA Austria is part of a network of over 24 national YATA youth organizations across the Euro-Atlantic space.
Who We Bring Together
YATA Austria is designed as an open platform for emerging and early-career voices in the wider security and policy space. Its community includes:
- University students with an interest in international affairs.
- Young professionals in foreign policy, security, diplomacy, law, communications, and related fields.
- Researchers and academics working on European, transatlantic, and international issues.
- Public-sector and private-sector professionals seeking cross-sector exchange.
Why YATA Austria
YATA Austria creates a space where the next generation of professionals can learn, connect, and contribute to serious policy conversations. Its added value lies in combining a Vienna-based platform, a youth-centered format, and access to an international YATA network that extends across more than 24 national youth organizations.
