Abel Weber-Hontebeyrie

AIES Intern

Currently enrolled in a master’s degree in International Relations at the Institute of Political Studies of Rennes, Abel is taking a year out of college to gain some practical experience in the field of international affairs and diplomacy. After several academic and professional experiences abroad, he’s joining the AIES to get involved in the work of a renowned European research institute.

His topics of research include transatlantic affairs and the EU-US relationship in regard of the global issues of the 21st century. This interest for North America led him to study in the United States at the Steven J. Green School of International and Public Affairs. He devoted his master’s thesis to the study of the American foreign policy under Clinton’s presidency, focusing in a comparative perspective on the diplomatic response and the interagency work regarding the genocide and the ethnic cleansing in Rwanda and Bosnia-Herzegovina. After his residence in Austria, Abel will join the team of the U.S. Embassy in Paris as an intern in the Political Section.
