Ambassador Dr. Herbert Traxl

Herbert Traxl studied law at the University of Vienna, where he graduated as Doctor iuris. He also graduated from the School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) in Bologna.

In his diplomatic career, he worked in Paris and New Delhi and became Head of Cabinet in the Ministry of Economy in 1980. In 1983 he was appointed Austrian Ambassador to Ethiopia, and in 1988 he became Austrian Ambassador to Iran.

In 1991 Herbert Traxl became Head of Department for Development Cooperation in the Federal Ministry for Foreign Affairs and in 1995 Deputy Director General for Administrative Affairs. From 1998 to 2002 he was Austrian Ambassador to India and from 2002 to 2005 Austrian Ambassador to Thailand.
