Ruth Gursch-Adam

AIES Senior Advisor


Ruth Gursch-Adam studied International Politics at the University of Pretoria, South Africa, and earned her Bachelor of Arts-Degree in "International Relations and Diplomacy". In 2012 she earned her Master-Degree in International Relations at the Danube University in Krems, Austria.

Since 1987 she served in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with assignments in Ethiopia, Zimbabwe, Italy, Turkey and at the Permanent Representation of Austria to the OSCE in Vienna.

From 2017 to 2019 she acted as Senior Adviser and Expert for Cyber Security and Countering Hybrid Threats at the Military Policy Division of the Federal Ministry of Defence. In 2019 she was appointed Senior Advisor at the Austrian Institute for European and Security Policy (AIES).

Ms. Ruth Gursch-Adam participates in digital research projects. She regularly takes part in discussions, international conferences and workshops.

Ruth Gursch-Adam co-authored in regard to an article published by the Martens Centre-European View volume titled: "The impact of demographic developments in Africa on Europe".

She has also recently authored the commentary „Integrated Critical Infrastructure Protection - planning for resilience in crisis situations“.
