Born on 06 July 1946 in Alt Dietmanns.

After graduating from high school in Waidhofen an der Thaya, Mr. Fichtenbauer completed one year of military service, followed by a career as a militia officer. He reached the rank of brigadier in October 2005.

In 1970, Mr Fichtenbauer obtained his doctorate in law from the University of Vienna, followed by four years as a trainee lawyer. From 1975 to 2013, he worked as an independent lawyer.

For the following six years, Mr. Fichtenbauer served as Ombudsman of the Republic of Austria until June 2019. Since 2022, he has been a member of the Supervisory Board of Wiener Städtische Versicherungsverein "Vienna Insurance Group".
