AIES Associate Fellow
Or Yissachar's research focuses on the practice, strategy and philosophy of national security and defense, with particular emphasis on the European Union, France, Israel, Iran and the United States. Originally from Israel and with a security background, Mr. Yissachar graduated from Sciences Po's Paris School of International Affairs with a Master's degree in International Security, where he specialized in European Union foreign, security and defense policy. He also studied diplomacy and politico-military relations in France.
Having previously interned at the AIES during his master's studies, focusing on the Iran nuclear deal, Mr. Yissachar also interned at the Institute for National Security Studies (INSS) in Tel Aviv as a staff member for the institute's director, former Israeli intelligence chief Maj. Gen. Amos Yadlin, as well as former Mossad research department head Ms. Sima Shine. Mr. Yissachar's experience in the private market, such as his tenure as a market analyst in the business intelligence company Meidata, has greatly contributed to his practical approach, which seeks to find the link between idea and implementation.
Mr. Yissachar believes in taking a multi-angle approach to foster a deeper understanding of the research questions at hand. A concert pianist and composer, he graduated from Tel Aviv University with a bachelor's degree in classical piano performance and musicology. He is a native Hebrew speaker, fluent in English, French and Persian, and intermediate in Arabic and German.
